Educational and work background
I started working in a family restaurant at the age of thirteen. The restaurant was located on 96th St. and Madison Ave in Manhattan, NY. I worked in the restaurant from 1955-1972 when the business was sold. Through those years I continued my education (psychology) in different post secondary schools. For two years I attended Bradley University (1960-1962), until family health issues necessitated my return to run the family business. I then attended Hunter College in NYC evenings, and ran the restaurant days.
The business was sold to enable me to move to VT with my family. Living in VT, for 5 years I was part of a private bakery with distribution rights to the state of VT. From there I became head chef at the Brandon Inn, Brandon, VT and then the Fair Haven Inn, Fair Haven, VT. I left the Fair Haven Inn to run the Culinary Arts program here at STC.
Special Interests:
Sailing, beaches, and the water are passions of mine. I tend to spend as much time on my sailboat on Lake Champlain as often as I can.
I am an avid spinner, and can be found at the gym at 6:00 am most mornings participating in spinning classes.
Wintertime I like to hike, snowshoe, cross-country ski, downhill ski, and sit by my wood stove and enjoy the world.
