DECA – Distributive Education Clubs of America

Students enrolled in the Hospitality Tourism Management Program at Stafford Technical Center have the opportunity to participate in DECA. DECA is a national student centered educational organization for students interested in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. Part of DECA’s mission is to act as an advocate for marketing education and promote the growth of partnerships between business and education.

DECA’s goal is to help students develop a “career success kit” that they can carry into their professional and personal lives after graduation. This “kit”includes:

  • Occupational competencies for marketing, management, and entrepreneurship
  • Leadership skills
  • Appropriate social and business etiquette
  • An understanding and appreciation of civic responsibility
  • Ethical values
  • An understanding of the role of our free enterprise system in the global economy

To achieve this goal, DECA uses on-the-job experiences, chapter projects, and competency-based competitive events in specific occupational areas. These events emphasize academic and vocational excellence as building blocks for success, and demonstrate the direct relationship between marketing education and the real needs of business and industry.
