This course is perfect for both beginner and intermediate students who would like to work with clay. Students can explore both handbuilding and the wheel and make either functional or sculptural pieces. We will also learn numerous glazing techniques. The small class size will allow for lots of individual attention and each student can follow their own creative path. NOTE: The materials fee must be paid to the instructor on the first night of class.
ARCR-02 DECORATIVE PAINTING

Come enjoy the art of Decorative Painting. Learn the skills needed to create at least one piece of acrylic artwork. This is a course where you will learn the basic brushstrokes such as shading, hi-lighting, and creating texture. We will create a seasonal piece that may include flowers, bugs, rabbits, or anything else that reminds us of our seasons. This is a great, relaxing opportunity to learn basic painting skills or enhance those skills you already have. Instructor will supply the surface to be painted on as well as the paints. Supplies needed: #8 Flat Brush for Acrylics, #4 and # 6 Round Brushes, #2 Script Liner Brush. Supplies may be purchased at Michaels.
ARCR-03 WATERCOLOR PAINTING

This course is an introduction to the techniques of watercolor painting. Students of all ability levels are welcome. Topics to include: material selection, preparation steps, color choice, composition and textures. Students explore the aesthetics, technical problems and potentials of the watercolor medium. Students will be responsible for bringing their own materials and must purchase materials prior to attending the first class. ARCR-05 INTRODUCTION TO BASIC DRAWING

This course is an introduction to drawing basics including line shape, texture, shading, abstraction and perspective. Instruction will include the use of pencils, colored pencils, charcoal, and pen and ink. This course will help you to understand light and shading by creating the illusion of 3-dimensional pieces. Some outdoor work will be done, weather permitting. Students will be responsible for bringing their own materials and must purchase materials prior to attending the first class. ARCR-06 KNITTING WITH STITCHY WOMEN

Come knit with Stitchy Women. Now that you have learned the basic stitches; here’s a good project to learn some different stitches. This scarf will incorporate eight new patterns. We will concentrate on the scarf, but three scarves will make a shawl or seven scarves make a throw.
Materials fee is payable to the instructor on the first night of class or visit Mary Lee Harris (Stitchy Women) at
144 Main Street, Poultney for a selection of colors. Otherwise a selection will be brought on the first night for you to choose from.
ARCR-07 BASIC BEADING AND WIREWORK

You will learn the basics of jewelry design, and finish several projects during this class. The course will cover latest trends, pricing and selling jewelry, basic wirework, sources for beads and findings, tools, and more. Materials fee covers cost of beads, wire, findings, and tools. Students get to keep all tools, projects, and handouts. NOTE: The materials fee must be paid to the instructor on the first night of class.
ARCR-08 PORTRAIT DRAWING

In this class students will learn the basics of portrait drawing for the purpose of expanding a hobby or to create personalized gifts. Time will be spent on the facial structure of the human being and how to bring them to life on the page. ARCR-10 CARTOONING/COMIC BOOK ART

In this course you will learn how to draw and construct cartoons to basic comic book fundamentals and the breakdown of panels to splash pages in comic book art. Includes Manga style art and other styles. Comic pages will be available towards end of course. Please purchase the following materials: 11 x 14 Sketch Pad, 2h, hb, 2b, 4b ebony pencils, and a white eraser.
