Electrical/Plumbing

The Electrical/Plumbing Program is designed to prepare students to enter the career area as an apprentice or continue studies at the College level.

 

Units:

  • Basic Electricity Theory
  • Basic Plumbing Theory               
  • Electrical Wiring Rough/Finish
  • Piping Rough/Finish
  • Renewable Energy (Solar & Wind)
  • Energy Conservation
  • Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning
  • Blueprint Reading
  •  Construction & Industry Safety
  •  Introduction To Mechanical (Electrical/Plumbing/HVAC) System Design

 

Class Activities:

Classroom study and practical application at the school’s residential building project as well as other projects are combined with community service activities to offer a well-rounded experience.  Students are also offered academic opportunities at the Center.

 

Sample Job Opportunities:

  • Apprentice plumber or electrician
  • Heating Installation and Service
  • Wholesale or retail sales
  • Renewable Energy Technician     
  • Building maintenance
  • Building construction

Sample credits/schedules: (*Indicates Department of Education mandated academic embedded credit.  All other embedded credits are the recommendation of Stafford Technical Center and are granted at the discretion of the student’s sending school.)

1 Applied Math* or 1 Science*

 

 

Articulation:

          State University of New York-Delhi up to 4 credits

 

Apprenticeship:

400 hours toward VT Registered  Apprentice hours as an Electrician or Plumber. (VT Dept. of Labor)

 

Certification Opportunities:

  • US Dept. of Labor (OSHA) 10 hour Construction Safety Certification.
  • Heartsaver CPR
  • Students completing 90% of the Core Competencies will receive a certificate from STAFFORD TECHNICAL CENTER.
