Hospitality and Entrepreneurship

This program is designed for students who may have a career interest in the hospitality industry or are considering operating their own business.  This may include retail, business ownership, customer service, human resources, and business management.  Students may pursue a career after high school or continue their education at a post-secondary institution.  Recommended classes before entering the Hospitality and Entrepreneurship program include:  college prep English, two years of science and math, with at least one year of Algebra.  Keyboarding and computer skills are also recommended.

 Class Activities:

  • Operation of the Campus Common Grounds – all aspects of running a small business 
  • DECA marketing and business association participation, including competitions in curriculum areas
  • Field trips to hospitality and entrepreneurial businesses
  • Business Plan Development
  • Host School Activities
  • Virtual Business and Personal Finance Programs

 Sample credits/schedule: (*Indicates Department of Education mandated academic embedded credit.  All other embedded credits are the recommendation of Stafford Technical Center and are granted at the discretion of the student’s sending school.)

Community College of VT- up to 6 Credits  (Accounting) & (travel & tourism)

Currently revising existing articulation agreements with:

          Paul Smiths College – 9 Credits
          Johnson State College – 4 Credits

 Certification Opportunities:

  • Customer Service Certification through National Retail Federation
  • Financial Literacy Certification
  • Sales Certification through National Retail Federation
  • Heartsaver CPR
  • Students completing 90% of the Core Competencies will receive a certificate from STAFFORD TECHNICAL CENTER.
