Explore a career in music. Receive training in the language of music performance, improvisation, modern music technologies, production and marketing of talent in ensembles and combos. Students prepare live productions, including the sound, the stage, and the lighting. This is a hands-on approach to the study of jazz and contemporary music and an introduction to its commercial aspects. Students must audition and display reasonable competence on at least one instrument or vocal.

Students work in groups and produce professional quality CD’s. They also participate in live performances. At the same time, students continue to perfect their individual performance skills. All students are expected to participate in a college preparatory English class.

Additional Application Requirements for Music Technology: Students applying to the Music Technology program must have previous training and talent in music. This is an advanced level class. Students are required to audition with the instructor during their visit to the program. Students may audition vocally or with an instrument. During the audition, students will be asked to sight read music, play scales, and play a complete piece.
