The Public Safety Services program is designed to provide an introduction and overview to the spectrum of skills needed to successfully compete for a variety of careers in emergency management and protective services. Students may elect to pursue a career at the professional level or to continue their education at the post-secondary level at either a Law Enforcement Academy or a Liberal Arts college or university. This program will meet at the College of St. Joseph.

Class Activities:
Students will be provided an overview of the many agencies that comprise public safety services in our country. Students will learn about the criminal justice and emergency management systems through a carefully constructed curriculum comprised of classroom lecture and demonstrations by the Program Instructor. It is augmented by practical experiences conducted by professionals from the Vermont Police Academy, Vermont Corrections Academy, and Regional Ambulance Service to name just a few.

Credits/Embedded Credit:
Students can receive up to six (6) units of credit including embedded Social Studies credit. They will also earn six (6) college credits through the College of St. Joseph. These credits can be used in any degree program at CSJ, or may be transferred as elective credits to any other accredited college or university that will accept them.
Certification:
Students who successfully complete this program with an average of at least 85 will receive a certificate from Stafford Technical Center and will also be eligible to earn the First Responder Credential and Incident Command Certification.
